Futur Montréal presents respected legal professional and community advocate Cosimo La Rosa as its candidate for city councillor in Ville-Marie (Peter-McGill district)
Montreal, QC – September 19, 2025 - Futur Montréal is proud to announce that Cosimo La Rosa, bailiff, mediator, law teacher and respected community leader, will run as a candidate for city councillor in the Peter-McGill district of Ville-Marie in the 2025 municipal elections.
Mr. La Rosa is a licensed bailiff by the Chambre des huissiers de justice du Québec and currently practices with QCO Huissiers de Justice. He is a Quebec government-certified mediator specializing in amicable settlements, civil and commercial mediation, and also serves as an Osgoode Hall Law School Certified Law Teacher at O'Sullivan College in Montreal, where he has taught civil procedure and introduction to law since 2015.
A graduate of the University of Toronto (B.Sc. 1985 in Psychology, Microbiology, and Criminology), Mr. La Rosa also distinguished himself internationally as Vice President of Business Development at Apex Group, where he implemented asset management programs globally. His career has been defined by his ability to build bridges between academia, law, and business to deliver solutions rooted in fairness and accountability.
In addition to his professional accomplishments, Mr. La Rosa is a director of the Red Coalition, where he has championed critical causes such as mental health awareness and the fight against systemic racism. His advocacy experience gives him a unique perspective to address some of the most pressing social issues facing Montreal today.
With this wealth of experience, Mr. La Rosa is committed to ensuring that residents of Ville-Marie, and particularly of the Peter-McGill district, one of Montreal's most diverse and growing sectors, can count on a voice that understands both the legal and human dimensions of urban life.
“I have dedicated my career to resolving conflicts, protecting rights, and helping communities find common ground,” said Mr. La Rosa. “At City Hall, I will bring that same approach to tackling the issues that matter most to Peter-McGill residents: safe and welcoming streets, access to housing, mental health supports, and respect for diversity.”
“Cosimo embodies the integrity and professionalism that Montrealers want to see in their elected officials,” said Joel DeBellefeuille, co-founder and executive director of Futur Montréal. “His lifelong commitment to justice and community service will make him a powerful advocate for the residents of Peter-McGill.”
“With his experience in law, mediation, and human rights, Cosimo embodies the values of Futur Montréal,” added Jean-François Kacou, head of Futur Montréal. “He knows how to listen, he knows how to act, and he is ready to deliver solutions that will improve the daily lives of Ville-Marie residents.”
