Futur Montréal announces its candidates for Côte-des-Neiges–Notre-Dame-de-Grâce, Montreal's largest borough
Montreal, QC – September 10, 2025 — Futur Montréal is proud to announce its candidates for the Côte-des-Neiges–Notre-Dame-de-Grâce (CDN–NDG) borough, Montreal's largest and most diverse borough. Together, these six leaders bring the experience, dedication, and vision needed to ensure fairness, transparency, and opportunity for all residents.
A press conference to present the full CDN–NDG slate will be held in front of Artz & Kardz, 5333 Queen Mary Rd, Montreal, QC H3X 1T9, on September 11 at 13 p.m. Party leader and Montreal mayoral candidate Jean-François Kacou will be present alongside borough mayoral candidate Gulnar Mousa to introduce all the candidates and answer questions from the media.
Gulnar Mousa — Candidate for Borough Mayor, CDN–NDG
A businesswoman, community leader, and political organizer with over 15 years of experience, Gulnar is the President of Grand Community Housing and President of the Montreal Central Lions Club. She is also a former board member of Gestion Immobilière Communautaire–NDG and a former board member of Bienvenue à NDG, where she contributed to the advancement of community housing and the integration of newcomers. A former licensed real estate broker and architect with a degree from Damascus University, she combines technical expertise with community engagement.
Stefani Novick — Candidate for City Councillor, Côte-des-Neiges
With over 25 years of experience in the community and nonprofit sector, Stefani Novick is an expert in trauma-informed approaches, community mobilization, and program development. She has extensive experience working with individuals and families living with intergenerational trauma, PTSD, and addictions. Stefani is recognized for her rigorous approach, strong leadership, and deep commitment to social justice.
Anthony D'Alesio — Candidate for City Councillor, NDG
Anthony D'Alesio has over ten years of experience in customer service, sales, and international affairs. Currently a sales specialist at YMCA Canada, he is skilled in communications strategy, international sales, and customer loyalty. Anthony combines professional expertise with community engagement, advocating for social housing renovations, supporting small businesses, and protecting community spaces in NDG.
Svetlana Chernienko — Candidate for City Councilor, Loyola
A national figure recognized for her commitment to mental health and social justice, Svetlana has served as a spokesperson for Jack.org alongside Selena Gomez, Women Aware, and Welcome Hall Mission. During the pandemic, she has become a national media voice, supporting Canadians in their collective grief and anxiety. She also helped organize one of Montreal's largest peaceful protests in 2020 against systemic racism and received the House of Commons Award for Excellence in Community Service. An entrepreneur and community mobilizer, Svetlana brings national recognition and deep local commitment to Loyola.
Glenn Opendo — Candidate for Town Councillor, Darlington
Entrepreneur, community mentor, and martial arts leader. Glenn owns Théâtre Décarie, Zamboangueña Restaurant, VPS Security Inc., Vision Center, and The Pearl of the Orient Seafoods. He combines entrepreneurial leadership and mentorship, committed to improving security, supporting seniors, and strengthening tenant rights in Darlington.
Dani Muzungu — Candidate for Town Councillor, Snowdon
Legal professional with training in paralegal techniques and experience as a legal assistant at Kliger Ettedgui Legal Inc. Dani is also a Commissioner of Oaths. With expertise in conflict resolution, customer service, and administration, he is committed to improving safety around the Snowdon resort, supporting local businesses, and expanding access to reliable community and legal services.
