Futur Montréal withdraws Anastasia Marcelin's candidacy for mayor of Montreal North
Montreal, QC – September 2, 2025 – Futur Montréal regrets to announce that the candidacy of Anastasia Marcelin, who was officially presented earlier today as our candidate for mayor of Montreal North, has been immediately withdrawn.
As is our practice, all applications undergo a rigorous review of their background and public activities. Unfortunately, a video posted by Ms. Marcelin on June 7, 2020, did not surface during this process. This video, now circulating on social media, contains loud and disturbing language that may be interpreted as pejorative. This content in no way reflects the values of Futur Montréal and directly contradicts the principles and policies that guide our movement.
While the party acted quickly, we believe Ms. Marcelin must also take personal responsibility and apologize for her actions. Our commitment remains to putting forward candidates who embody respect, integrity, and inclusion at all times.
Futur Montréal will continue to feature leaders who share our vision of building a stronger, fairer and more inclusive Montreal.
