Futur Montréal announces a strong team of candidates across the city
Montreal, August 28, 2025 – Futur Montréal is proud to present a new team of candidates who will represent several boroughs in the upcoming municipal elections. United by a shared vision of transparency, inclusion, and concrete solutions, these candidates bring decades of professional expertise, community leadership, and lived experience to the movement.
“Our candidates reflect the strength and diversity of Montreal,” said Jean-François Kacou, leader of Futur Montréal and candidate for mayor of Montreal. “They are professionals, community leaders, parents, and neighbors who know the realities on the ground. Each of them is ready to build a more affordable, more inclusive, and more responsible city.”
Les candidates
Stéphane St-François – Candidate for mayor of Plateau-Mont-Royal
A law graduate of UQAM (1996), Stéphane St-François built his career in customer service management, working with La Capitale, La Baie, Fido, and Bell Mobilité. His candidacy focuses on practical, citizen-centered governance to improve the quality of life in the Plateau.
Basile Nakouzi – Candidate for municipal councillor, Ahuntsic–Cartierville-Bordeaux-Cartierville
Basile Nakouzi, 64 years old, Montrealer for 35 years, member of the Order of Architects of Quebec since 1992, holds a DESS in project management from the University of Montreal. He participated in the realization and was the project manager of several large-scale urban projects. Married and father of two children, had a social commitment in the sports and cultural community, notably as a soccer coach and hockey team manager as well as at the parish community level. Mr. Nakouzi is mainly interested in sustainable urban development (buildings and infrastructure), leisure facilities and parks and woodlands.
Justin Kausel – Candidate for City Councillor, Lachine-Saint-Pierre
A longtime Lachine resident, Justin Kausel brings over 15 years of experience in business development, strategic consulting, and community engagement. A graduate in political science from Concordia University, he is trilingual (English, French, and Spanish). Active in his neighborhood, he has participated in public consultations, coached youth soccer, and advocated for issues related to housing, safety, and sustainable development.
James Heymans – Candidate for City Councilor, LaSalle-Cecil.P.Newman
With over ten years of experience at the Quebec Ministry of Justice as a paralegal, James Heymans has worked in Montreal and Nunavik, managing criminal documentation, search warrants, and the administration of justice in both urban and remote settings. A graduate of O'Sullivan College in Paralegal Studies and an anthropology student at Concordia University, he brings legal expertise and a deep sense of public service to LaSalle.
Julian Valls-Pietracupa – Candidate for the position of municipal councilor, Saint-Léonard-East
Rooted in the Saint-Léonard community, Julian Valls-Pietracupa embodies a new generation of collaborative leadership. He worked as a negotiation intern at Crown-Indigenous Relations and Northern Affairs Canada, supporting reconciliation efforts on important land claims in Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba. Currently studying political science at Concordia University, he is committed to representing diversity and strengthening his community.
Mohammad Yousuf – Candidate for municipal councilor, Villeray–Saint-Michel–Parc-Extension-Parc Ex
A resident of Parc-Extension for over 30 years, Mohammad Yousuf understands the daily realities of families, seniors, and newcomers. Of Bangladeshi descent, he holds a master's degree in journalism and political science, as well as a diploma in police technology. His priorities include affordable housing, street safety, better public services, and opportunities for local businesses and youth. A devoted father, he wants to ensure that Parc-Extension remains a vibrant, affordable, and welcoming neighborhood.
José “Kilimppi” Reyes – Candidate for municipal councilor, Villeray–Saint-Michel–Parc-Extension-Villeray
A respected community leader and cultural organizer, José “Kilimppi” Reyes has over 30 years of experience in event planning, social justice advocacy, and citizen mobilization. A well-known figure in Montreal's Latino community, he has led major cultural celebrations such as the Dominican Parade and the Festival del Sol. As president of the Quisqueya Foundation, he has contributed to local and international educational and cultural projects. He aims to bring a strong voice for inclusion and civic participation to Anjou.
