Futur Montréal reacts to the revelations about Soraya Martinez Ferrada: transparency and consistency above all
Montreal, May 12, 2025 — Futur Montréal, a political movement in the process of obtaining official authorization, wishes to respond to the revelations published in the Journal de Montréal concerning the leader of Ensemble Montréal, Soraya Martinez Ferrada. In 2023, she allegedly demanded an illegal deposit of $2 from her tenants, a practice strictly prohibited in Quebec.
Despite her good faith statements, this episode calls into question her knowledge of housing laws—a central issue of her campaign. Even more troubling, Ms. Martinez Ferrada also allegedly falsely claimed to hold a master's degree in public administration in official documents.
"When you claim to be the 'mayor of housing,' you must embody integrity and respect the laws. Montreal needs concrete solutions, not legal approximations or embellished resumes." says Joel DeBellefeuille, co-founder of Futur Montréal.
As the housing crisis worsens, Montrealers deserve leaders who are impeccable, consistent, and grounded in reality. Futur Montréal will continue to promote a responsible, equitable, and credible vision for the development of our city.
